Question 1

How does a free in-home estimate work?

Accepted Answer

Book a time through our free estimate form or call (727) 435-7203. We visit your home, bring samples so you can see them in your own light, measure the rooms, look at the subfloor, and walk you through your options and pricing. There is no obligation.

Question 2

Do I need to visit a store to pick a floor?

Accepted Answer

No. We come to you. Samples travel with us, and you see them next to your furniture, walls, and natural light instead of under store lighting.

Question 3

How long does an installation usually take?

Accepted Answer

A room or two is often a one-day job. Whole-home projects, stairs, and projects that need old-floor removal or leveling take longer. We give you a timeline with your estimate.

Question 4

Do you remove my old flooring?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Removal and disposal can be included in your quote. See floor demolition and prep for details.

Question 5

Do you move furniture?

Accepted Answer

We move standard furniture. Please clear fragile items, electronics, and the contents of drawers and closets before we arrive.

Question 6

Where do you work?

Accepted Answer

MBM Home Improvements is based in Ruskin, FL and serves homeowners across Tampa Bay. See our service areas or call (727) 435-7203 to check your address.

Question 7

How do I prepare my home before installation?

Accepted Answer

Clear the floor area, set aside valuables, and plan for pets to be kept away from the work zone. We take care of the rest, and we will tell you if anything else is needed at the estimate.

Question 8

Do you work on businesses as well as homes?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Our commercial flooring page explains how we approach offices, shops, and similar spaces.

Question 9

Why choose vinyl flooring in Florida?

Accepted Answer

Vinyl is waterproof, resists scratches and dents, and does not swell in humid weather, which suits Tampa Bay's climate and slab-on-grade homes. It also cleans up easily and is comfortable underfoot. Browse luxury vinyl plank for the most popular option.

Question 10

What types of vinyl do you install?

Accepted Answer

We install luxury vinyl plank, vinyl floor tiles, sheet vinyl, and vinyl stairs.

Question 11

Is vinyl flooring really waterproof?

Accepted Answer

The vinyl products we install are waterproof, so it is a good fit for kitchens, baths, laundry rooms, and entryways. After a major leak or storm flooding, the area still needs to be dried out and the cause corrected, and we are happy to take a look.

Question 12

Is vinyl good for homes with pets and kids?

Accepted Answer

Yes. It is durable and easy to clean. Keeping pets' nails trimmed and using felt pads under furniture helps any floor last longer.

Question 13

Can vinyl go over my existing floor?

Accepted Answer

Sometimes. It depends on whether the current floor is flat and solid. We check during your estimate and tell you what we recommend.

Question 14

How do I clean vinyl flooring?

Accepted Answer

Sweep or dry-mop regularly and use a gentle, vinyl-safe cleaner with a lightly damp mop. Avoid harsh abrasives.

Question 15

How long does vinyl installation take?

Accepted Answer

Many rooms can be finished in a day, depending on size and the prep needed. Your estimate will include a timeline.

Question 16

Can vinyl handle direct Florida sun?

Accepted Answer

Strong sun can warm and fade any floor over time. Window coverings help protect the floor in rooms with large sunny windows.

Question 17

What is the difference between laminate and vinyl plank?

Accepted Answer

Laminate has a wood-fiber core and is best in drier rooms. Vinyl plank is waterproof. We install both, so we can recommend the best option room by room. See laminate flooring for more.

Question 18

Where does laminate work best?

Accepted Answer

Bedrooms, offices, hallways, and dry living areas. For laundry rooms, bathrooms, and entries, a waterproof vinyl is usually the safer choice.

Question 19

Is laminate scratch resistant?

Accepted Answer

Yes, laminate has a tough wear layer that resists everyday scratches, though no floor is scratch-proof. Felt pads under furniture are a good idea.

Question 20

How do I maintain laminate in humid weather?

Accepted Answer

Wipe spills promptly, avoid wet mopping, and keep your air conditioning running through the summer so indoor humidity stays steady.

Question 21

Can you install laminate on stairs?

Accepted Answer

Yes. See our laminate stairs page for how stairs are handled.

Question 22

Will you remove and dispose of old flooring?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Removal and disposal can be part of your quote.

Question 23

Does laminate need special underlayment?

Accepted Answer

Often yes, especially over a concrete slab where a moisture barrier helps. We use what the product and the subfloor call for.

Question 24

Do you offer financing?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Financing is available for qualifying projects. Visit our financing page to learn more, and we can talk through it during your free estimate.

Question 25

What are the rates and terms?

Accepted Answer

Rates and terms depend on the financing provider and your approval. We do not quote them here, so ask during your estimate or when you apply.

Question 26

How do I apply?

Accepted Answer

Ask us during your in-home estimate, or reach out through the contact page and we will point you to the next step.

Question 27

Does financing change the price of my project?

Accepted Answer

Your project price comes from your written estimate. Financing is a way to spread payments out, and the details come from the provider.

Question 28

Can I finance a commercial project?

Accepted Answer

Please ask. Options can vary, and we can talk through what is possible for your project.

Question 29

What happens after I am approved?

Accepted Answer

We confirm your product selections, set your installation date, and get started.
